hEALTH AND Counseling
STUDENT HEALTH CENTERThe Health Center is open to faculty, students, and their families. Nurse Shirley Marriet is in the Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, and Dr. Victor Emanuel (a Ross grad) is available by appointment between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. If you have any questions regarding other services available at the Health Center, visit or call 445-5355, ext. 301. In the event of an emergency requiring hospitalization, notification of Campus Security
at 445-5355 will result in notification of a Ross physician. By the way, the hospital normally expects your family to supply bedding, food, soap, and towels. The University is your family. Some students are unduly bothered by Princess Margaret Hospital because it has open wards. Open wards are more common in the U.S. than you might imagine, and studies have shown that nursing care is better on open wards than in private rooms. The University provides evacuation insurance for more extreme
emergencies. Health Advice Health InsuranceStudents must have health insurance while enrolled at Ross University. The University has insurance available at a cost of $225/semester for individuals under 30 years old. Rates vary for other age groups. If students provide proof of other comparable insurance coverage, the requirement to purchase insurance made available by the University will be waived.
The company that provides health insurance for Ross University students is Student Resources Corporation. THE COUNSELING SERVICELocated on campus, the Counseling Service is available to students who need help with such difficulties as anxiety, stress, bereavement and loss, relationship and family problems, study and time management, and general depression. The Service is part of the Behavioral Science
